One video is all it takes. I was in Chicago doing an audit internship the summer before my junior year of college. I did not particularly enjoy the accounting courses I took in college, but I thought maybe the actual job would not be as bad…and I was right, it was not as bad. However, I knew that binders of financial statements and matching numbers was not for me.

Feeling lost and dejected, I was mindlessly surfing YouTube when I stumbled across an “Intro to UX Design” video by AJ&Smart. As I watched it, I felt as if I was at the mall and had seen the most gorgeous, high quality coat for a low price. I knew I wanted this, so my UX journey began.

The first week of junior year, I dropped out of the #1 accounting program in the United States to pursue UX, and I have not looked back since.

My takeaway from all of this: YouTube changes lives.
